Conspiracy Theory
The NME reports today about the arrest of Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack for alleged child porn offences. Del Naja denies the allegations and is fully co-operating with the police.
The timing of this report makes me wonder.
Robert Del Naja, along with Damon Albarn, has been taking a very active position in CND’s anti-war campaign. This is obviously not a very pleasant activity to the important people out there who make the war decisions. Could the arrest be a possible attempt at keeping a high-profile activist silent?

Blur
Blur are performing in the Astoria in May! I want to be there!
Tickets go on sale on Saturday for four shows, and my guess is that they’ll be gone by the end of the day. I hope I’ll get the chance to see them at least in one of the festivals this summer. One can hope…

Headless Chicken In Various States
If you are one of my precious regular readers, you may have noticed that it’s been a while since I last posted here. If you are one of my less regular or new readers, welcome, I hope you stay (if you check the dates on recent post, you will know the truth of my earlier statement).
The reason for my lack of posting is my recent Headless Chicken state, i.e. my stressful overworking of the past week, which causes me to write these lines in the office, on a Saturday afternoon. Veggie Vampire referred to my state this week as one of the following: working, sleeping or drowsy, not necessarily mutually exclusive.
As you may have understood from previous posts, overworking is not something I agree with. For me, private time is important, and my weekends should be sacred. Unfortunately, my boss would not agree. Bad planning (partly by me, I admit), lack of organisation and a total lack of flexibility caused me to put way too much effort into work. I think my lovely Belle and Sebastian are mad at me for lack of attention, and I’m sure that my body will soon collapse as well.
I hope that this won’t last for much longer, and I have full intention on making sure it doesn’t. As soon as this is over, I’ll be able to continue posting regularly. First, however, I will need to catch up on some sleep.

Longing
Veggie Vampire is away on business. He’s been away since Wednesday and won’t be back until Monday. While he’s away he still keeps filling every moment of thought.
I try to avoid any V-day themes around, it only makes it harder.
Veggie Vampire, I miss you so much!

Poor Belle II
I went to visit Belle this evening at the vet’s.
She’s still not getting any better. She’s got a drip in her front leg and she refuses to eat on her own.
Hopefully she’ll be back home and much better tomorrow.

A keen Buffy fan called me to protest on an uncomplimentary review I wrote about Cruel Intentions.
I deeply apologise.
I did not mean offence to Sarah Michelle Geller’s acting abilities or Buffy in general.
I still maintain that Cruel Intentions is a crap movie, with the exception of the brilliant acting by Sarah Michelle Geller.

Poor Belle
My little Belle is sick again. She was hospitalised at the vet’s tonight with what seems to be an episode of blood parasites. The blood results will come in tomorrow and then we’ll know better.
I was so sad to see her motionless on the vet’s table tonight. I’m going to do anything I can to make sure she’s better soon and that this will not happen to her again.

Worst Ever Movie – Best Ever Soundtrack
It seems like there’s an amazing reverse correlation between the quality of a movie and the quality of the soundtrack. Maybe this statement is a bit extreme, and definitely not always true.
Here are some examples:
Cruel Intentions – Probably one of the worse movies ever made. A bad adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons made to fit the taste of young and stupid audience who’s only there to see Sarah Michelle Geller snogging Selma Blair. The soundtrack, however, is a brilliant compilation that includes the likes of Placebo, Blur and Skunk Anansie. If I were more into compilation albums, this one would have been in my collection.
Romeo + Juliet – Yet another badly made adaptation to Shakespeare’s work. I watched this movie on video and was very happy to have the ability to use the fast forward button. It would have been simply boring, if it weren’t for the soundtrack and the music of Radiohead, Garbage and The Cardigans.
Last night I watched a similar example. I must admit Vanilla Sky wasn’t that bad, and I did stay tensed almost until the end. It was a bit disappointing, though and at the end of the movie I felt that I expected more. Maybe the high expectations were a result of hearing Radiohead’s “Everything In It’s Right Place” as the first notes of the movie, or the mentioning of Looper. The soundtrack also includes R.E.M., The Chemical Brothers and Sigur Rós. Another album that could have made it to my CD library.
Must be many more examples out there…

Today’s email from Katrina House from Belle and Sebastian said:
“Thank you for your submission, however I am sorry to say that you have not been chosen for this position.”
Oh well, there’ll be other opportunities…
