If I had bothered reading my mail properly, I would have found out myself, but since I’m too lazy, I learned it from The Modern Age instead.
Xfm has a new on-demand radio service that is more or less the idea of Pandora, except that it plays the Xfm style of music, which is just my cup of tea.
I was listening to mi-xfm all day at work, and it’s great. Even some of the people who work with me were enjoying it, so you might enjoy it too – check it!

Edan Alterman is mostly known as a comedian, but he is also a music lover, a blogger and a talented documentary film maker. Recently, he posted a link to his documentary Short in his blog. I wanted to watch it a long time ago, when it was shown on telly, but I missed it, so now I finally had the chance to see it (though again, a bit late).
The film touched me in many levels, mostly with flashbacks to my teenage years, in which I got quite messed up about being short. Like some of the people in the film, I also felt disadvantaged many times. I also hate being called “cute”, and I can understand the complaints about the difficulty of cloths shopping.
I understand that Edan Alterman was trying to give his personal point-of-view about being short and growing up as the smallest boy in the class, but it did disturb me that there is only one reference to short girls in the whole film saying that for girls it is not as bad as it is for boys. I was never bullied at school for being short, but I do remember being upset about it, I remember the “bone age” test that is mentioned, and I remember coming to terms with my height through self-humour. The boys and men in the film talk about their parents roll in coming to terms with being short, but I only remember that it was never an issue in my home. My parents are short, my brothers are short, and I’m short, and that’s the way life is.
It took many years, but now I am finally content with the way I look, my height included. I take it as a compliment when people guess my age much lower than it really is. On the other hand, I know that I have to work much harder than anyone else to prove myself as a grown woman who can be taken seriously at work. A short man might have only one fight to take up, while I have two.
Anyway, Short is still a very good documentary, so if you haven’t seen it yet, go see it now. It’s in Hebrew, with English subtitles. Enjoy.

Am I the only one who thinks that The View should give some credit to Cornershop?

I think it is only appropriate that my first (short) music review in a very long time will be about Jarvis. After all, he took his time with that album as well.
I am not quite sure about my expectations of The Jarvis Cocker Record. Maybe a bit of Pulp, and some of Jarvis’s sharp political and social statements and probably some of his kinky comments as well. The bit of Pulp I did hear in the album was more of the later Pulp, not the genius of A Different Class, but the whimpering of We Love Life. There is some politics, and some social lectures, but the flowing sex of Underwear and This Is Hardcore turned into Disney Time.
The Jarvis Cocker of 2006 is much more mature than he was in the good days of Pulp, but keeping us waiting for almost half an hour for a song at the end?! Come on, that’s so 1996!

The photolog has been transferred to flickr, which hopefully will make it easier for me to update
There are still a few things that need to be done to make sure the site looks as good as it should, and that all the links are working and the pictures are in place. I’m working on it, but if there’s an issue that you think requires my attention, please let me know.
The launch party is coming soon! Stay tuned for your invitation!

The new site is coming up well, so far. Most of the features are done, with only a few little things still need to be sorted out.
However, the main part is what I’m having trouble with at the moment: the data! I need to import everything from Blogger to WordPress, which would have been easy if I haven’t migrated to the new version of Blogger. Actually, everything would have been easier if I haven’t migrated, since the new version is what’s driving me away. That and the bad service I’ve been getting from my host. Anyway, the new Blogger is not compatible with the old WordPress import feature, so I’m having some problems. There are some workarounds, and I’m trying to get them sorted, so wish me luck.
Meanwhile, if you want a teaser, and maybe to give me some feedback on the format, drop me a line and I will send you the link to the draft of the new site.
