Commercialism or Arrogance?

Yesterday afternoon I was visiting my grandparents and the telly was open in the background. Suddenly a familiar sound caught my ear. I turned around to see a black and white advert, with two beautiful people slowly losing their cloths to the sound of Cold War Kids. I was surprised to see the logo of Fox at the end as seemed like the advert was set for a more mature audience.

Anyway, it got me wondering. Could it be that a band like CWK agreed to have their song played on a television commercial?! Is it because they thought that since Israel is just a small country in the Middle East no one will notice? Or could the arrogance be blamed on Fox, thinking that no one will notice if they use a song without permission? If the latter is true, this is where the authoritiesshould interfere, instead of wasting their time chasing the development of technology. What’s the story?!

So?

What do you think of my new theme?

Here’s the teaser: there are more changes to come…

Not If I Were The Last Junkie On Earth

The whole idea of comment spam is new to me. Before I moved to WP I was using my own commenting system, and had security by obscurity. Now, they just keep on flowing in, and despite being blocked by a WP plug-in, I still have to flick through the spam list to make sure no valid comments were stopped.

All my comment spam is about supposedly easily purchased medication and interesting drugs. Actually, I didn’t know there were so many ways to get high. Am I missing anything by sticking with alcohol? I may not be a much of a junkie, but I wouldn’t mind a few good links to porn sites!

Open Letter

Dear neighbour/undisciplined kid/juvenile delinquent who hangs out in my area,

I don’t mind that you steal my mail. I make sure nothing of importance is delivered here anyway.  However, if you take my bills, please bother to pay them!

Best regards,

DB

Commercialism Going Too Far

International Women’s Day was celebrated yesterday, and for some florists and card sellers, this was another opportunity to make a profit. This is completely missing the point! IWD is not another Hallmark event! It is about empowering women and celebrating their achievements, and not a way to push out more cosmetics!

If you are an employer of women, you should acknowledge their good work. Giving them the same pay as you would to an equally educated and experienced man would be a good start. Celebrating IWD can also add a nice touch.

This may also be a good opportunity to note my ISP, who sent out cosmetics cupons to customers – again, missing the point.
