Studying Is a State of Mind

I’m studying for an exam, for the first time since I graduated eight years ago, and I find it very difficult to concentrate for more than 20 minutes at a time. For some reason I can’t remember myself being that way when I was doing my university degree, or even at school. Is it a matter of habit or age? How does this reflect on my chances of success if I start a Masters degree?

Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy studying regularly, but these are things I do for fun and that do not include revising for an exam. Revision is hard!

If I ate something horribly fatty and unhealthy in the junk food section of a festival, is the heartburn supposed to continue for more than a day?

Seven Wonders or A Hard Choice

On the 7th of July (07.07.07), the new seven wonders of the world will be declared in Lisbon, Portugal (as I was kindly reminded by Guy in Haoneg this week). So, I went off and voted, and it was not an easy choice. I only visited four of the candidates, and some of those are nice, but not something I will put in a “Seven Wonders” list.

The candidates are all human-made achievements, with great meanings and symbolism. However, I believe that the true wonders of this world are parts of the world itself, as made by nature. Choosing the seven natural wonders would not be an easy choice either. I can think of a few places in the world that I visited and would like to include, for example, The Great Barrier Reef and Fraser Island in Australia, or the lochs of Scotland and many more, that if my put my mind to it I will be able to come up with.

 What are your natural wonders?
