The western part of our journey is nearly completed, and still not much has been written about it. This is partly due to the fact that we are more busy enjoying our trip than documenting it in words (we have taken a lot of pictures, though). It is also because it seems that Internet cafés are not as common as they used to be, in this age of WiFi and laptops. There are moments in which we are sorry that we did not bring our laptops with us, but immediately afterwards we remember that we are happy not to carry these heavy things, and not to have to worry about leaving them in the car.
I wrote a few of our stories using the old fashioned pen and hotel stationary, and I will type them up when I can. Some of our photos will also be uploaded to flickr once we sift through them.
Meanwhile, I will just let you know that we’re in Vancouver, we’re fine, and we’re happy.

I’m taking a break from packing at the moment. We’re flying tomorrow morning, and we’re so excited! I’m sure I forgot to pack something important, but as long as there are shops and credit cards, I’ll be fine.
I’ll try to blog while I’m away, and maybe I’ll even be able to upload a few pictures to flickr, but don’t count on it. We’re not taking a laptop, so we will have to depend on Internet cafés.
Canada, here we come!

We’re almost ready to go on holiday. There are just a few little things left to do (like packing), and as far as we’re concern, we can just get on that plane and get out of here.
Today a good part of the day was spent on music-related preparations. E. went through my digital music collection and picked some of the things he wouldn’t mind listening to. Since he is not as adventurous as me when it comes to music, he gets to veto the music I will be allowed to play in the car. Still, I made sure to add a few albums into the list that he is unlikely to be familiar with. I’m sure he’ll learn to love them at least as much as I do. The albums were loaded to a few SD cards that will extend my MP3 player, and combined with his player’s capacity and an FM transmitter, we are expecting a good variety during the long drives.
Just in case you are curious, here’s a partial list of the music that will be played in my ears in the coming month or so:
- Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
- Beck – Odelay
- Belle & Sebastian – The Boy With the Arab Strap
- Belle & Sebastian – Lazy Line Painter Jane
- Blur – Parklife
- Dresden Dolls – The Dresden Dolls
- Editors – The Back Room
- Franz Ferdinand – You Could Have It So Much Better
- Gomez – Bring It On
- Guillemots – Through The Window Pane
- Interpol – Antics
- Kaiser Chiefs – Employment
- Kaiser Chiefs – Yours Truly, Angry Mob
- Kasabian – Kasabian
- New Pornographers – Twin Cinema
- Modest Mouse – Good News for People Who Love Bad News
- Muse – Absolution
- Muse – Origin of Symmetry
- Pulp – Hits
- Radiohead – The Bends
- Radiohead – Kid A
- Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Blood Sugar Sex Magic
- The Shins – Wincing the Night Away
- The Streets – The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living
- The White Stripes – Elephant
